The Geometry of the All-Seeing Eye and Isaac Newton's Translation of the Emerald Tablet

in #sacredgeometry7 years ago (edited)

'Tis true without lying, certain and most true

That which is below is like that which is above, and that which is above, is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing

And as all things have been and arose from one by the meditation of one: so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation

AB = 1

The Sun is its father, the moon its mother

If AB = 1 then:

Be = √2 Bd = √2/2
ab = √3
ec = √5/2

The wind hath carried it in its belly, the Earth its nurse

The father of all perfection in the whole world is here

Thanks to the occult schools, the philosophy and practice of sacred geometry has survived, passed down from initiate to initiate through the ages, and immortalized in great architecture.

One exercise called squaring the circle:

". . . is of great importance to the geometer-cosmologist because for him the circle represents pure, unmanifest spirit-space, while the square represents the manifest and comprehensible world. When a near-equality is drawn between the circle and square, the infinite is able to express its dimensions or qualities through the finite." -Sacred Geometry Philosophy and Practice, Robert Lawlor

A particularly symbolic solution to squaring the circle is done with the initial division that is required for creation taking place within the unity-circle. As seen above, immediately the golden proportion (φ) appears, as well as the architecture for a couple infamous symbols.

The "all-seeing eye," or Eye of Providence, according to Wikipedia, "represents the eye of God watching over mankind (or divine providence)." While this may be true, what isn't mentioned is the geometry which is both mathematically profound and symbolic of cosmic creation.

Before anything can be created there must be One/unity. Then there must be a division of the unity-circle into the primary duality, yin and yang, the "Sun and Moon," the "mother and father." Then the √5+1/2 (φ) is born. From the Eye of Providence, the material realm is emitted.

The freemason logo of the square and compass may come from the same geometry, but I'm speculating.

These symbols are not inherently evil nor are the members of occult schools.

The Emerald Tablet is part of the Hermetica, an alchemical text. According to Wikipedia, it is a cryptic text; however, after studying sacred geometry, I interpret it as speaking about the source of all things, the one that is all and the all that is one, and how if this is seen as a fact through meditation, "you shall have the glory of the whole world and thereby all obscurity shall fly from you." Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Speaking of alchemy, did you know that Isaac Newton was an alchemist?

Here is his full translation of the Emerald Tablet:

'Tis true without lying, certain and most true

That which is below is like that which is above, and that which is above, is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing

And as all things have been and arose from one by the meditation of one: so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation

The Sun is its father, the moon its mother

The wind hath carried it in its belly, the Earth its nurse

The father of all perfection in the whole world is here

Its force or power is entire if it be converted into Earth

Separate thou the Earth from the fire, the subtle from the gross sweetly with great industry

It ascends from the earth to the heaven and again it descends to the earth and receives the force of things superior and inferior

By this means you shall have the glory of the whole world and thereby all obscurity shall fly from you

Its force is above all force, for it vanquishes every subtle thing and penetrates every solid thing.

So was the world created

From this are and do come admirable adaptations where of the means (or process) is here in this

Hence I am called Hermes Trismegistus, having the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world

That which I have said of the operation of the Sun is accomplished and ended.
