VISIT RWANDA

It's no news that I love football. It's no news that I hate Arsenal. Okay, hate might just be a strong word to use, but in the football world, that's how we roll.

This is why I do not follow their games with keen interest, they have been drab anyways.

This is also why I haven't been able to see the "Visit Rwanda" tag they have worn all season. I just got to see it during the game against Liverpool. Coincidentally, they did play that day.

But, all is that is by the way.

After noticing that all the arsenal first team players had a "Visit Rwanda" tag crested on their left arm, they will also continue to wear it to all their games for the next three seasons. Also, the logo will be worn by the Under-23 and the women arm of the club.

I had to hit my guys at Wiki up... I had to know three things.

1. Why would anyone visit Rwanda?

2. Why football(I already did know this one, but we learn every day.)?

3. What does Rwanda stand to gain?

And I do love my guys at wiki, they never fail.

So, Why would anyone visit Rwanda?

Rwanda is a small country in East Africa with a lot of culture and wildlife. A beautiful place with loads of mountains, jungles, savannas, volcanoes, lakes, and forests. They are even called the "Land of a Thousand Hills".

But Rwanda is not only the land of a thousand hills, but also a country rich in flora and fauna, and a stunning natural beauty with breathtaking green savannah. The country hosts some rare species of animals like the silverback mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and more than 300 different bird species.

After the Rwandan genocide, the nation had gone about their business trying to restructure their nation through their vision 2020 plan, which was launched by the Rwandan president in 2000, with its main objective centring on transforming the country into a knowledge-based middle-income country. Thereby reducing poverty, health problems and making the nation united and democratic.

The president Kagame also did say “Our thinking is based on people. In national budgets, we focus on education, health, we look at technology, skills, innovation, creativity. We are always thinking about people, people, people."

No wonder they came up with the tourism plan, to get people to Rwanda again. To get me and you to Rwanda.

Now, why football?

This one easy. First, you might want to ask why Arsenal in the first place, but this is because the President of Rwanda is a supposed Arsenal fan. See? Loyalty, right??

Right.

This is exactly why football is the perfect place to push the agenda because football fans are generally very loyal and emotional people... This I consider a very tactical move from the Rwandans...

Football connects people from various races, all loving one thing, the community and unity the game creates. This is another reason why it's a well-calculated move.

Again, you might want to ask, which club Buhari dey support sef?

What's in it for Rwanda?

Simple, the people of Rwanda wants you to visit them, they want me to visit them because they love people.

I don't know how much they have pumped into this deal with Arsenal, and of course, there's been a lot of criticism about that by some sections, I'd probably have done so too if I didn't love the round leather game but a minister did give a reply saying "For those asking if tourism promotion funds should have been used for water or electricity, let me break it down for you: Infrastructure is imported. Tourism is our #1 forex earner. The more Rwanda earns from tourism, the more we can invest in our people. That's the connection".

Having said that, the tourism sector fetched $438M in revenues in 2017 up from $404M in the previous year, just a few million short of their $440M target.
