So you've got your truck set up, you went through orientation and you're pulling your first load down the road. What now? There are a few unwritten rules of the road to keep in mind. Rule number one is the biggest vehicle always has the right away. So if you see all the trucks ahead of you moving into the left lane all of a sudden, even though you may not see what the problem is, plan on shifting to the left lane as well, because there could be a vehicle broke down that you cannot see.
The sign says merge left right lane closed ahead. Do you wait until the last possible minute or merge now? I can promise you that by merging now, you will end up moving a little slower, but you will have the respect of the commercial drivers that are on the road with you.
