Alec Baldwin manslaughter trial.

I did actually watch the hearing in regard to Alec Baldwin's manslaughter charge.

I haven't seen this reported on yet; so, there's something to be nipped in the bud.

First of all, it's pretty clear that the defense failed to convince the judge to dismiss the charge. So, this is going to trial.

The defense had one witness, firearms expert Lucien Haag, in cross examination for a full work day -- starting on Friday, taking the weekend off, and finishing yesterday.

After the schedule of the future trial proceedings began, the defense raised concerns about the number of people on the prosecution's witness list. Both sides asked for another week on the schedule. The prosecutor pointed to the lengthy cross examination from the defense.

The judge didn't budge; but, the prosecutor did raise what seemed to be a valid concern -- if the defense ends up chewing up too much time forcing the judge to cut them off mid- ltrial, that would be an easy path for the defense to claim that the court was violating Baldwin's rights.

The defense attorney offered, completely unprompted by anyone, that the defense could make its case in one or two days.

So, the judge called him on it, and said that she would give the defense three days and the prosecution five.

It seems like this is gonna something that raises eyebrows in the media when people realize that the prosecution got an extra couple days.

In reality, it seems that this high-priced defense lawyer might have just mildly screwed himself and his client. He went from asking for an extra week to losing two days by blurting out that estimate.
