Russia to Test 100-Tonne Satan 2 Ballistic Missile
Moscow, October 24: Russia is all set to carry out the test launch of its 100-tonne ‘Satan-2’ ballistic missile that will be powerful enough to destroy an area as big as France.
The missile is also known as RS-28 Sarmat which is capable of beating any defences and wiping out entire countries, Russian military official said.
The testing of the Satan-2 Ballistic missile is in pipeline since 2009. The missile is now ready for test after several failures with initial trials likely to be carried out before the end of the year.
A report said that the launches will be held at the Plesetsk testing ground in western Russia. If the test is completed successfully, the weapon could be used in 2019-20.
The missile is also capable of delivering the warheads of 40 megatons which will be 2,000 times more powerful than the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
The giant missile has an attack range of 10,000 km allowing Russia to attack, London, United States and other Europea cities.
The missile can also carry a payload which will ‘wipe out UK, France or Texas’, defence military television channel Zvezda reported.
In 2016, the Russian Defense Ministry release the first images of countries largest-ever nuclear missile.
