Tehran Meeting: Russia, Turkey and Iran to Advance Peace Process in Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Tehran, where he, together with the Presidents of Turkey and Iran, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani, held the third summit on the Syrian peace process. The September summit began with the introductory statements of the three presidents in the presence of the press, then the discussion continued in a closed session. As a result, Putin, Rouhani and Erdogan will adopt a joint statement, and they will address the press with their assessments of the discussion. The main issue on the agenda was Syria, both in individual talks between the leaders and as a joint discussion. Putin, himself, noted that the extremists concentrated in the region are preparing various kinds of provocations, including with the use of chemical weapons. Will this serve as a signal to the obvious party in question?
