There is a better shoe for us?
Sometimes it happens that a new customer enters my shop and tells me that he is a new runner, and his request is to want to buy the best shoe to run.
Apparently it seems a question of easy answer, because one could say that the most expensive shoes are certainly the most valid and best. This fact is not always true, because it depends on several factors, which I will try to explain in this post.
In general, there are brands that have been leading the world rankings for the sale of running shoes for many years, and are mainly Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, Nike, Saucony, Adidas and New Balance, but there are many other companies that produce good quality products.
Certainly buying a shoe produced by one of the first companies in the rankings, perhaps associated with a high price list, should be safe from unpleasant surprises, but this concept can not be true in all cases.
Take as an example an Asics Gel Kayano, a very technical shoe produced by a company that has always been at the top of the world sales charts, it is absolutely not true that this product is good for all runners, because it is a shoe with special inserts anti-pronation that adapt only to a part of the athletes, that is to those who have an excess of pronation, but also in this case it may not be the right shoe that is right for us.
Summing up a little 'speech, I would say that the absolute best shoe of all does not exist, or rather, there are shoes in the various categories of which I spoke in previous posts, which are among the best in their respective compartments, and however, it is always the end customer who, by actually testing a series of shoes proposed by the shopkeeper, chooses the one he considers the most appropriate and suitable for his own characteristics.
Excellent reviews, valid feedback, brand and established model, advice from the shopkeeper, objective characteristics of the shoe, are all indicators that the precise shoe could actually be a good product for our needs, and there must be a good perception and general feeling when really shoes the shoe in the foot, because the best technicians in this case are ourselves, as unique and unrepeatable individuals.
The answer to the initial question if there is the best shoe for us is certainly affirmative, but we can not be sure which is really the best without first having tried it, because it could also be the most innovative and innovative shoe ever produced, but if we we do not have good feelings slipping it in the foot, it is better to opt for another model.
In the next post we will talk about a particular category of shoes, which are progressively affirming for some years, and I refer to the shoes inspired by the Barefoot philosophy, to the principles of natural running.

Finding the right shoe for your feet is not easy that's for sure! I usually go to specialized running shops just because I love nerding about shoes when I need new ones, and last time I was there the sales person said to me that if your feet are strong they can handle any shoe.
I love the natural running philosophy, looking forward to your next post.
Thank you very much for the welcome comment to my post, I also recently went to use shoes with reduced drop, and I'm very happy with this fact
Hey @mas-runner I think your right. There is just so much information out there and I am sure people just don't know where to start. It must be difficult trying to get that across to your customers.
Great post

Hi, dear @run.vince.run, thank you for your comment.
Right now I have finished talking with a new runner that I've never seen before, and we discussed many things, shoes, training, competitions, is part of the advice that must be made available to those who want
Probably there is a way to choose the best shoe for a certain person if you start with the type of feet (pronator, neutral, supinator) and then you already have only limited options for your size and type of feet. So you go in a shop, try them out and consider the feeling of your feet in it. You can consider price and brand and color preferences at the end and so you find the optimum for you. This is how I go when choosing and it worked for 15 years ;) Currently, I am on Hoka One One neutral.
The way you choose the shoe is not wrong, make a series of selections to get to your favorite shoe.
I know Hoka pretty well, it's one of the most emerging brands on the market, but try to pay attention to your Hoka shoe because it's very saggy as a midsole, and it's not always good for your joints
Yeah the kayonos it really used to tick me off how all the magazines used to promote those like ALL runners needed them.
What are some of the "off the grid" brands you like best?
Hi, dear @chelsea88,
among the traditional brands I really like the 361 ° company, a new entry with good construction criteria, while if we look at the innovative shoe sector Barefoot, my preference is for Newton, Altra, Topo Athletic and also Merrell, also if you have never sold this company's products
Merrel i know is a good one not familiar with the others
