Some pics from our outstation in Pattaya

One of the most fun things that we do in the Hash here in Thailand is we go on outstations to other areas where they have an established Hash House Harriers that already exists. Normally we know a few of the members because they have come to our events, but for the most part we end up meeting a ton of new people and the trails that we go on are always virgin territory to us because we don't live there. We took a trip down to Pattaya recently to have a group run with their members and it was a ton of fun.

One thing that us northerners from Chiang Mai noticed almost immediately was how much hotter it seemed here than it does back home because in Chiang Mai it is one of the most elevated cities in the entire country. Pattaya is at sea level and my gawd was it humid. Just standing in one place resulted in me sweating like mad let alone when we were actually moving on trail.

There wasn't a tremendous amount of nature on this run because Pattaya city, where the run took place, doesn't really have any left. They have built up the area to the point where virtually all land has a hotel, condo, restaurant, or bar on it. This is fine though, we were just a little concerned about the chalk and flour getting eliminated by wet people passing by. Therefore a rule was broken and there was a local Hare on trail with us. Normally this is frowned upon but we didn't need a bunch of Chiang Mai people wandering the streets lost.

Another thing that really stuck out in my mind is that there were a lot of tourists here. This is in stark contrast to Chiang Mai where there are almost none. To be fair most of the tourists were Thai and this is a holiday week so that might be the reason why there are so many people here and they are presumably from Bangkok, which is only an hour away by car.

It was fun to be on a beach during the circle and our hosts were able to procure the usual stuff for this event like ice blocks and even an industrial cooler that was filled to the brim with icy cold beer for our post run rituals.

Our run concluded at nearly sunset and I gotta admit it was refreshing to have this be the case even though it was extremely hot and humid. Only about a dozen of us made the journey down for this outstation, but I still think it was a great time and a great way to meet new friends in a new city. On On!
