Silly pics of silly people on the Hash

The Hash House Harriers is a global (dis)organization of clowns for the most part. We are a bunch of adult children who refuse to grow up and while we are all quite serious in our professional lives, or at least as much as we have to be, we get together and act like fools and dress like fools. Anyone taking the Hash too seriously will be reprimanded for doing so and in the years that I have been involved there have only been a very small handful of incidents where any abuse was genuine. These people who behave like this don't last long in the Hash because we are silly on purpose and have no intention of ever changing that.

Here are some photos that basically exemplify exactly what I am talking about. Keep in mind that none of these outfits are required, they were chosen by the people wearing them.

What a lovely ensemble. "Skidmark" is one of our most elaborate dressers and he has a cornucopia of various outfits including skirts that he wears just for everyone else's amusement. I think he gets a kick out of it as well.

A lot of us go out of our way to attempt to one up the others as far as how crazy our outfits are. In public we do not wear this sort of thing because people would probably assume (perhaps correctly) that we are a bit nuts. However, our regular commemorative shirts are almost as bad as the silly custom made outfits.

Anytime there is a special event we task someone with designing the layout of the shirts. If the shirt is not ridiculous, it isn't appreciated very much and all of us want the shirts to be as crazy as possible and if possible, we want there to be some sort of swearing on the shirt so that it would be something that you definitely wouldn't wear around your mother or children.

I think that as serious as the world has become over the years that a little bit of childishness is very good for everyone. we certainly will keep this tradition alive because I believe that by letting loose every now and then and behaving like children for a bit, even if it is just for a few hours a week, is beneficial to all of our lives. Who wants to be serious all the time?
