Never yawn at the events

We have a lot of "policies" at the Hash House Harriers events and most of them are designed to get you in trouble for something you may or may not even be guilty of. When you get in trouble it simply means that you are going to get put on the ice for a friendly grilling and laughed at by the others in a way that is not meant to hurt your feelings but is just meant to be fun.

There are certain levels of offenses and the penalties are all the same: You get put on the ice and after someone is mean to you for a little while you do a "down down song" and then everyone drinks some more beer. Not much harm in that now is there.

Well one of the biggest offenses is when you are caught being "bored" at the events and in a rare stroke of luck one of our professional photographers with a shitty, out of focus, phone camera, managed to get one of these offenses for the record books.

This one was caught by the person who had "the floor" at this particular men only event and for poor "Pee-hill" (his Hash name) the punishment was swift and extreme. He was kept on the ice until he no longer felt tired but it was rather amusing because I don't know if you have ever been caught in a yawning loop but that seemed to be the case with him this day. He just couldn't stop and after being kept on the ice until he could no longer feel his butt, he was released back into the wild - or to his chair - and the yawning continued. He was put back on the ice several times after that and was giggling every time that he would yawn again and again. People started to have the reaction of "are you serious?" when it happened the 4th time.

I dunno what happened to poor P-Hill that day, but it could have just been a question of not getting enough sleep the night before but the Hash doesn't make exceptions! He ended up drinking quite a lot of beer that day and for some reason it was exactly what he needed in order to wake TF up because after time number 6 or so, the yawning ceased.

He took it on the chin like a champ and didn't get upset. He knew he was in the wrong. This is just a little warning to all you would-be Hashers out there that this is yet another "rule" that most people are not aware of that can quickly land you on the ice. But there are worse punishments that being told to drink a beer isn't there?
