HUGE Hash House Harriers gathering in Pattaya

We like to think that we here in Chiang Mai are the most organized and biggest Hash House Harriers operation in the country but every now and then when there is a Pattaya invitational the local Hashers down there put us in our place by have a truly huge gathering. It was great fun to be involved and to meet so many new Hash-friends.

Everyone now and then we are able to muster this many people together for events here in Chiang Mai but the Covid stuff seems to have hit our group a bit harder than Pattaya, Bangkok, and Phuket chapters. This past week there was a major event in Pattaya and everyone had a fantastic time filled with runs, laughs, and of course copious amounts of suds.

The event was called "The Lanna Dirt" and I would go into what that name actually means but I don't entirely understand it myself. I just know what when you see the word "Lanna" it means there are going to be a lot of people there. Hashers flew in from all around the country and a few of them even made the trip from UK, USA, and Australia. It was just an amazing time and all of us made a bunch of new friends.

This is one of the great aspects of the Hash and when you start to remember that this is truly a worldwide organization filled with thousands upon thousands of enthusiastic members.

There isn't as much actual countryside in Pattaya as there is here in Chiang Mai, but they certainly made due and at the end of the day it was all brand new trail for all of us that made the journey from the north.

After the runs we all keep our silly shirts on and then hit the town for dinner and then head off to some somewhat naughty nightlife spots. This is still Pattaya after-all and it is well known for its "red lights."

A great time was had by all and I have to admit that it was kind of nice to get out of Chiang Mai for a little bit and head down to the beach even though I don't think the beach at Pattaya is really anything to get excited about. Honestly, if it weren't for its proximity to Bangkok I don't think anyone would go there at all. Don't tell the Pattaya boys that I said so though!
