Chiang Mai Hasher focus: "TipToe"

There are a ton of members in the Chiang Mai Hash House Harriers and a great many of us have been here for a long time. There are very few that are still alive that have been members and very active members of the Hash than "TipToe" though. He is very dedicated and also has served as the "beer monster" for the Monday Male Hash a number of years.

Tiptoe is no spring chicken. I don't actually know how old he is because it isn't something we talk about on the Hash. We all just presumed we are people in our 60's that behave like teenagers and for the most part, that is exactly true.

Tiptoe is named this way because he is almost always at the back of the pack since he has a recurring and rather horrible leg injury whose origin, once again, is something we don't talk about. He walks with a cane and is very slow, but unless there is some sort of absurd terrain, he always finishes the trails. He kind of serves a bit of a reminder to the younger and more fit members of our group that they have absolutely zero excuse for not finishing. TipToe never gives up and he is very aware of his physical limitations. He takes it easy, and will sometimes arrive back at came 30 minutes or more after the rest of the pack. He has NEVER not made it back although there have been some instances where he had to double back and return to the camp via the same way he took into it because something ends up being too steep. We don't want to kill the guy after all.

You see all those patches that he has in the first photo? Well you don't get those just because you want them. They have to be earned by participating as a Hare a number of times and also because you have been involved in a certain number of Hash events. While TipToe focuses mostly on the Monday Hash, he is active in many of the Thursday and Saturday ones as well.

There really is no excuse to not be involved in the Hash House Harriers. Nobody that has legs can complain that they are unfit for participating. TipToe can barely walk and even though it isn't technically allowed on Monday Hashes, he is the only person that is granted a chair.

There is no excuse for not coming along with us and once again, I promise you will enjoy it, especially if you enjoy hanging out and drinking beer. The exercise part of it is a rather minor part of why it is that we do these things.
