Weekly Run for Steem Challenge - Smithville Historic Park

This week I did a short trail run on Tuesday in central New Jersey’s Smithville Historic Park. I only had 50 minutes to drive out to the park, run, and drive back so it was a short run, but at a much faster pace than my typical trail run. The temps were below freezing so at least my faster than normal pace served to warm me up pretty quick.

What also helped the pace was the trail was extremely flat with only 30 feet of elevation change over the mile and three quarters. It connects to a rail trail that I’d like to try on a future run.

I learned on a previous day’s hike in the park that the Star high wheeled bicycle was invented and manufactured on the site of the park. Below are the remains of the old manufacturing plant.
