The common wealth games is upon us.Again this is our chance to watch the most sought for event in the world 100m .I all my coaching experience ,to day i address the million dollar question.HOW TO RUN THE 100M?
As short as it looks, the 100m can only be run well and best if you understand and train for the race phases accordigly.
Phase 1:Start.
The start requires an athlete to overcome inertia and react from the blocks to start off from 0 acceleration .
Phase 2:Acceration.
I believe with good strength work and a controlled quickness and agility program
The athlete can effectively apply force to gain momentum and speed.Top sprinters reach top speed at around 65metres
Phase 3:Maitaining
Speed endirance workouts can help a sprinter to be able to hold a high speed and minimise deceration .The athlete who decelerates the least aurguably has greater chances of winning.
