Stupid Rules: My friend the painter wanted to paint in a garden and was told that he would need a license :D
I am not kidding,
my friendly master painter Daniel Thoms went with his wonderful compagnion to a garden in Sintra, Portugal. They had to pay 6 euros entrance and when he put up his tripod and started painting with oil colors the suecurity came and said that he would need a license.
The license is only necessary if you are using a tripod and I guess they killed his vibe. He told me that it was overpriced anyway. Why must they overprice the shit out of everything nowadays anyways?

Do some studies in black and white and values in between to create the illusion of form, depth, and space. Read .
Pay attention to the light. Where is it coming from? What time of day is it. The Golden Hours, that time just after sunrise and just before sunset, are when most photographers like to shoot as the shadows are long and there is a beautiful golden orange cast on everything. If the garden doesn't inspire you at some time, wait for the light to change. It will, and it may suddenly open up brand new possibilities for painting.
