A great start on the Rugby World Cup for Japan
The opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup is over, and so is the first match of the tournament. I really enjoyed watching the parts of the opening ceremony that I got to see, and also parts of the first actual match. But, to be honest, I was busy working on small YouTube clips showing people how they can stream the Rugby World Cup online on ITV, so I was kind of busy, but also watching at the same time.
But, the first time I looked at the match, I was surprised to see that Russia was in the lead. That was for sure not the start on the tournament that the hosts looked forward to. But, after a little time in the first half, things got back to Normal and Japan got in the lead, and after that, they had the game in their hands all the way till the end. Jet-heeled winger Kotaro Matsushima scored three tries - and had a fourth ruled out by the television match official - as Japan secured a bonus-point victory in the opening match of RWC 2019. Asia's first Rugby World Cup began in sensational style, but not in the way home supporters, in their seats up to three hours before kick off, hoped. Russia, rank outsiders in Pool A, were ahead inside five minutes with a gift of a try for Kirill Golosnitskiy, thanks to nervy spill of a routine catch from full-back William Tupou. Winger Golosnitskiy gathered just inside the 22 and scored easily. It was the fastest try in the opening match of a Rugby World Cup. Yury Kushnarev made it 7-0 with the conversion.
The match ended with a 30-10 victory for Japan, and it will be remembered as a match that went as expected. But, we can for sure know that Japan will get a much harder time as they get ready to play against Ireland on September 28th.
Time to wait for the upcoming Rugby World Cup matches
Now we will have to wait for about 24 hours before the next match in the tournament will be played. But, luckily, we will get to see three different rugby matches tomorrow. The highlight of them all is the match between New Zealand and South Africa, a match that should be considered a top-match in the entire tournament.
In addition to the match between South Africa and New Zealand, the Australians will also be ready to cheer for their mates as they play against Fiji, and France will also play against Argentina.
On September 22nd, in two days, the highlight will be the match between Ireland and Scotland. But, the people of England for sure look forward to their opening match which will be against Tongo on this day. Besides this, the match between Italy and Namibia might be considered boring by some, but forget it - in a Rugby World Cup every single match is interesting!
