RPG Spotlights Coming in 2018

I’m starting a new project for 2018 called RPG Spotlights. I’m going to start writing about RPGs I think have been overlooked, underappreciated, or forgotten over time. These are the games that don’t get a lot of marketing for one reason or another. For example, a lot of games find success because they work well with strangers in a 2-4 hour convention slot. Many of the games I’ve been browsing for this project don’t have that feature.

To help motivate me to be consistent about this project, I’m going to launch a Patreon in early January. I’m also going to be posting these Spotlights here at steemit. Thus providing people with two different ways to support this project. They can contribute directly the Patreon or lend the posts an up-vote, or both! If fact, you can start early by up-voting this post and sharing it around.

The Patreon is admittedly structured a little strangely as you’ll see in January. But I have two basic reward tiers that grant access to channels in a Discord environment I’ve set up. The lower tier grants access to the channel for discussing the articles directly with me and other readers. The higher tier grants access to a different channel where I’ll discuss what I’m thinking about covering in the future and you can participate in the decision making process. I am by no means an expert Discord administrator so there may be some technical difficulties early on.

I will likely launch the Patreon on or around January 3rd, make my final decision about which game to cover first around January 15th, and post the first Spotlight by the end of the month. So if you’d like to be an early adopter and be in the learning curve and decision making process that’s the time frame to do it.

This is something I’ve been thinking about doing for a while. I’m both excited and nervous about it, so thank you in advance for your support.
