Pathfinder Online Resources
One of the great things about Pathfinder is all the resources available online. In fact, you could completely play Pathfinder without ever buying a book, although I would certainly recommend buying some. The books are well done, work without internet connection and you’ll be supporting Paizo, the company that makes Pathfinder. Ultimately, if you start a Pathfinder game, you’ll certainly benefit from having some hard copy books to share around the table. I’d like to do a brief overview in this post, but may go into some more detail in the future. So without further ado, here is the list:
Paizo: The publisher’s main site. Here you can see the current and upcoming titles, buy books and browse extensive message boards.
d20PFSRD: This is a well organized reference for all Paizo content and a good deal of the 3rd party content. The content is well indexed and littered with links to quick jump between relevant content. This is my primary source of reference during a game. The only downside to this site is it does not contain the setting specific content.
Archives of Nethys: This is another rules reference site and since it doesn’t make money off the information, they can include the setting specific information. This one is better organized to find content by book, if you are curious what content is in a specific book.
Pathfinder Wiki: This site is a wiki about all things Golarion (the default setting for the Pathfinder rules system). Need to research a specific god, a town or even a nation, they have it all here. I hear it is used as an reference inside of Paizo itself as they write their books.
Hero Lab by Love Wolf Development: The best Pathfinder character creator out there. It has saved me so many hours as a DM and player and has been a excellent tool for helping new players create a character. They have a PC and Mac app, an iOS app and are working on an online version. It’s not cheap to get all the content available, but it has certainly been worth the money to me.
