He was born in a family of farmers. In his adolescence he went to Bucharest, where he qualified in the tailor profession, which he will practice in his native village until he is taken in army.

He performed very active the military services in a Constanta subunit of the 1st Border Guard Regiment, between 1912-1914.

During the Battle in Râpa Roşie and during the Battle in Râmnicu Sărat he was seriously injured, and later his left arm was amputated.

At the end of his convalescence, he refused to be medically qualified, asking for his return to the front to be approved, which would be quoted by King Ferdinand's day-long army. Returned to his unit, he participated in the military actions as a grenade launcher, dying on 31th July 1916.

According to the King Ferdinand, Constantin Muşat gave a beautiful example to his comrades. It was one of the sacrifices for national unity and remained in the collective memory of the Romanians, being also one of the prototypes of typical heroes in wars.

He is among the figures whose work have been eternalized in bronze and stone, and recorded in history and literary books.
