A role model Steemian contest: how to help minnows

in #rolemodel7 years ago (edited)

Hi dear Steemians and @anomadsoul,

It is always worth to look in your blog @anomadsoul, one finds very interesting stories, life experience, discovers some interesting places, people and just your thoughts.
This post now about „Role model Steemian“ brought different thoughts, emotions and I just would like to share them because of few reason:
You are one the person who is a while in Steemit and your post automatically seen and really read by many people, including minnows and whales.
You are a part of OCD, that supporting minnows
You are a fair person and I trust you do your best to help minnow community.

Reading your post and calling for this contest, that will bring to winners 500 Steem Power, that sounds a great sum but to support community/friends this is too little

I think to support minnows something else need to be done. For example, everybody knows that the Steemians of same level of power support each other and also vote the posts of whales only with the aim to be seen. On other hand minnows try to get into their vision too with writing comments as some of them have zero power and when they upvote so they are invisible. Sometimes you can read direct plea in the comments of every post that whales posted, where they ask to come and visit/upvote the post, this is because the posts of many newcomers just buried under the huge amount of incoming posts, almost every second. They could be very good content, professional photographs or creative arts or music but if you don‘t have support, many of this talented people just give up and go. I had the same mood in early beginning but I am a person who like to fight and don‘t give up so easy.
I see sometimes that whales upvote whales and, of course, it becomes trending, majority of Delphines and whales also upvote their own posts. I can understand it is their post and their Steem power, they deserve it. I am not against it, but when I see that some of members post more than 3 posts a day and selfupvote them with sometimes with 100%, this is not right.
Therefore, when I see @anomadsoul when you are saying that the role model Steemian „does not self-upvote more than once a day“ but if that someone whose upvote only worth $0-$0.10 and he has altogether only 3-5 upvotes of zero power newcomers then the end result is ZERO; then it is not fair to ask the person not to upvote himself. I think it is more related to those who have more Steem power.
I believe the whales would like to do more for minnows should try if instead of high upvotes for some of their friends just give 1-2% of their upvote to 50-60 other minnows, then they will make so many people happy.

Anyway, after such introduction, I would like to write about myself. I don‘t know if I am a role model, I think the people around need to tell you. I only know that I am since August 17 in Steemit, my blog contains original drawings and paintings that I am doing on almost every 2d day but so that my account active, I post my original photographs.
Since beginning I started with few Steemians who had same level like me and we are still supporting each other, many slowly but surely growing, of course, everyday I look through the posts if something new been posted by my true followers. Despite of having 490 followers I got 20 who regular supporting me and I support them.
I don‘t downvote, because I just do not do it. Of course, I answer to my comments, there are not so many like you @anomadsoul or @blocktrades receive and I am glad for it. I believe I would not have enough time for my creative art in that case. I do not use bitbots, because the people created their post and put their thoughts and their best in them, therefore, in my opinion, this is not fair just to let the bots, automatically give the post same upvote if you post some rubbish or masterpiece.
After my daily upvotes, when I support creative artist and photographer in first instance, but also some charity projects my power is down to 50-58% (about $0.30) depending on how many new posts were there. I want to give more to others but if I go more down with my power then there is less to give.
Of course to learn other people with same interests I am in since recently in Freelancer guild, and since recently in discords: trial by comics, ADSactly and the alliance.

Thank you for be patient and reading my post till the end

How are you? dear @ stef1. I have read your entire publication and it remains to be said that it is a very interesting reflection as well as a philanthropic one. I share your vision of supporting the newcomers :-) Of course, this opinion is not only due to the fact that I am currently just fifteen days today in steemit: https://steemit.com/steemit/@yrmaleza/my-fifteen- springs-in-steemit. But, seriously, I think that those who already have their career consolidated in the platform should leverage those who started. Thanks for your post

Thank you for reading and your comment, I hope you will enjoy being a part of community

OK, I'm a minnow, so probably I'm not the right person to talk about this subject, but yeah, whenever some whale do a upvote to a minnow, he'll idolize the person that gave that upvote. It would share to the other friends on Steemit community that he's a "really cool guy". He would stay sharp and comment his posts. That's how this community should grow.
