not only a BRILLIANT SCIENTIST, but also a WRITER, a POET, an ACTOR, a COMEDIAN
Last Thursday I got a shock when driving to the office while listening to the news on the radio. One of my favourite scientists passed away, sadly! :(
You probably know who I'm talking about, he was the Rockstar under the Scientists, Stephan Hawking. By many regarded as the next Einstein. He had an absolute brilliant mind! He also had another great ability: He saw the beauty in science, in physics and mathematics and could also express himself very well, in poetic terms!
I'm pretty sure the scientific community has more brilliant minds, maybe as brilliant as mister Hawking, but it is master Hawking who brought science to the mass by writing the book "A Brief History of Time". A book explaining the theories of how the universe - and everything in it - is born and evolving; Written in a way we all can kinda understand it. A book in which he also explains his own theory of black holes, those point in space having such great force, nothing in its vicinity can escape from being sucked into it. Hawking theory of black holes is special; His theory is: These black holes are not so black after all; These black holes radiate energy. This radiation is known as the "Hawking's Radiation".
A couple of months ago I watched the movie "The Theory of Everything" (created back in 2014) for the first time. An absolute great movie about Stephan Hawking! A movie showing not only the brilliant mind of Hawking, but also his personal life. His life with his friends, his family life, his struggle with ALS. How strong a person one must be, to end up in a wheelchair, not able to move and talk anymore, and still finding the motivation and strength to continue his scientific work, to write books, to present at conferences, to create documentaries and to play (mini-) roles in comedies like "The Big Bang Theory". An absolute amazing and unique person, Stephan Hawking was, and still is, although not amongst us anymore!
In case you are not interested in science persé, I can still very much recommend you to watch the movie "The Theory of Everything".
In case you like to understand a bit about the theories about the creation and evolution of the universe, you have to read his book "A Brief History of Time". It is a must read, even in case you already read books about the topic of the universe.
Several great news articles about Stephan Hawking published recently

I read the news that his second wife reportedly abused him……I hope it's not true……R.I.P.
