Security robot joins team at New York's LaGuardia Airport

The future comes to the LaGuardia International Airport in New York, with its first security robot patrolling the outside of Terminal B arrivals.

The security robot, who is a girl, has a name – B-3PO. Being equipped with cameras and sensors, she can send images to a central command post while gliding around.

B-3PO is the application of Geofence technology. She has been used since February by LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP), the private company that is rebuilding the airport’s central terminal.

“We do have the opportunity to test a lot of different things, use this terminal as an incubator to see what makes sense to bring to the new terminal,” said Tracy Sandford, LGP's director of marketing.
