Allegories of a Great City - Nottingham

The carvings on Nottingham Council House have not been seem up close since the were carved back in the late 1920s when the building was constructed. The carvings were done by Joseph Else and his students. Else was a pioneer in the monumentalist tradition of sculpture.

To celebrate the construction we were asked, as a favour, to produce a film about the statuary surrounding the building. However, we were not allowed to fly our drone for filming. Instead we had to construct a series of flexible mono poles with gimbals ranging from 6 to 14 metres long. The footage was fantastic. Not so keen on the monolgue.
