Roadtrip Europe - 1st Part Sweden - Wildcamping

in #roadtrip8 years ago (edited)

We sold everything we owned. Apartment, furniture, computers and we moved to our van. First we worked while living in a van fulltime in Helsinki, Finland and then in the start of September we started our one year journey through Europe. We travel on budget and because we want to expereince as much as we can, we mainly stay outside of camping grounds wildcamping and boondocking.

We started the journey by going to our family's summer cottage in Turku, where eventually we would take a ferry across the sea to Sweden. Ferrytrip was inexpensive and we were amazed that it included two full meals even if the trip was so fast!

Sweden is nature lover paradise like the other Nordic countries! Every mans right gives you opportunity to spend all nights in the woods and sleeping in the towns is also totally ok. Lots of nature parks to choose from and trails around every town, so you can go hiking when ever you like.

Watertaps are everywhere so you don't have to worry about fresh water running out, also dumping station for grey water and cassette toilet can be found in every motorway - for total free! Grey water in Nordic countries can also be drained to normal sewer, so that is not a problem. Little harbours usually have public toilets which you can use with free or little charge to dump your toilet too. Only thing why we went to one stellplatz (rest stop with services) was that we were out of clean clothes.

This part of our journey we drived near Stockholm through Goteborg to Denmark via Storabelt bridge. When we come back to Nordic countries we explore more center and northern part of Sweden also.

If you have any questions about making Roadtrip to Sweden or any other Nordic countries, give us a comment and we will answer it shortly.
