Introduction

At work of a shaman there are public rituals and personal rituals that are not public. Here I cover a subject that is one of the most common rituals of Tuvinian shamans and that takes place in secret.

Invocation by questions

The theme of questions to the spirits of water, heaven, earth, and fire is apparently one of the topics that is very often used by Tuvinian shamans. In its meaning and character, it is highly archaic and is associated with the cult of mountains, water, natural phenomena and so on. The shaman addresses questions to his assistant spirits:

We have to come here and find a solution
What is needed, what is allowed.
Have you tasted the flavor of dairy products?
You ate the best milk,
Please do not hurry to hide,
throw yourself on a white cloud like a scarf.
I ask you, free the patient
From the hard yoke of a serious illness,
The one breast crushed wild
And it does not allow you to breathe freely.
Which way is needed? Which advice is needed?
Please suggest, show the idol.
Where are you talking? What are you saying?
Which side is it on?
What is it hiding? What's up with you?
What happened and how did it stay?

Explanation

The shaman calls out spirits from the upper world. He explains the situation and asks for clues that he can then use to help the patient. As these questions take place in trance and in intimate connection with the spirits, the answer comes in a form understandable only to the shaman.

Einleitung

Bei der Arbeit eines Schamanen gibt es öffentliche Rituale und persönliche Rituale die nicht öffentlich sind. Hier behandle ich ein Thema, das zu den häufigsten Ritualen tuvinischer Schamanen zählt und sich im verborgenen abspielt.

Anrufung durch Fragen

Das Thema der Fragen an die Geister von Wasser, Himmel, Erde und Feuer ist anscheinend für tuvinische Schamanen eines der Themen das sehr oft benutzt wird. In seiner Bedeutung und seinem Charakter ist es höchst archaisch und ist mit dem Kult von Bergen, Wasser, Naturphänomenen usw. verbunden. Der Schamane richtet Fragen an seine Assistenzgeister:

Lass uns reden, lass uns rauchen,
Wir müssen herkommen und eine Lösung finden
Was benötigt wird, was erlaubt ist.
Hast du den Geschmack von Milchprodukten probiert?
Du hast die beste Milch gegessen,
Bitte beeile dich nicht, dich zu verstecken,
wirf dich auf eine weiße Wolke wie ein Schal.
Ich bitte dich, befreie den Patienten
Aus dem harten Joch einer schweren Krankheit,
Die eine Brust wild zerquetscht
Und es erlaubt dir nicht frei zu atmen.

Erklärung

Der Schamane ruft Geister aus der oberen Welt an. Er erklärt die Situation und bittet um Hinweise die er dann benutzen kann um dem Patienten zu helfen. Da diese Fragen in Trance und in inniger Verbindung mit den Geistern stattfinden kommt die Antwort in einer nur dem Schamanen verständlichen Form.
