Game spotlight: Risk of Rain

Game spotlight:

Game spotlight is a series of short blogs I will post regularly on my page, the idea is to cover all types of small and indie games across all platforms that I think are great fun to play and are not to expensive. I personally love playing games made by small studios and independent creators because they tend to be more unique, so you are often in for a lot of surprises.

Risk of Rain:

Risk of Rain is a platform game that can be plaid with up to four players, in game you play as a small person who has three different types of attacks and a dash; the attacks are a basic shot, a shotgun that knocks enemies back and a machine gun that also knock enemies back slightly.

The maps are laid out as you would expect, with lots of platforms that you can get across by climbing up the many dangling ropes, there also is a few areas that have pads that will boost your up to to areas you can't jump to.

As you advance through the levels you will come up against a whole range of enemies, getting stronger as you advance;

Lemurian

Wisp

Sand Crab

Black Imp

These are just a few of the enemies you will come across and they all have different attacks and movement, you also get some gold from killing enemies which you can use to open chest across the maps, you can also buy a range of items that each give your character a different bonus. You can also pay to fix drones that will follow you and attack enemies.

To complete the levels you have to find the portal and activate it, and it will take 90 seconds to activate, however when the time starts a boss will spawn along with a horde of enemies you will have to defeat before you can enter the portal.

I personally think Risk of Rain is a great game to play solo or with friends because there is so much going on you can end up getting so into the game you can just play and play. Also because it is relatively difficult it just makes you want to play to complete the levels.
