Today, the Japanese banking consortium announced the release of MoneyTap application, created on the basis of Ripple Blockchain technology. The new program will allow customers of banks in the consortium, to instantly process the transaction and to operate in a mode 24/7.
The consortium of Japanese banks, headed by SBI Ripple Asia, consists of 61 banks, which is more than 80% of all Bank assets in the country. Therefore, the released application will cover almost the entire banking market of Japan.
Until now, Japan's domestic payment flexibility has been limited. Clients could only conduct transactions on weekdays from 8:30 to 15:30. With the new application, users will be able to make payments on any day of the week and at any time, however, for this they will be charged a small fee.
It is known that some Bank customers have already tested the application during the preview.
"We are proud to be able to use ripple's Blockchain technology in our new MoneyTap mobile app to improve Japan's payment infrastructure," said Takashi Okita, CEO of SBI Ripple Asia.
Ripple has recently become one of the most popular blockchain platforms.
