Few weeks ago, ignoring many dissatisfied people, Coinbase (U.S.-based bitcoin exchange) told everyone that there's no plans to offer any new coins to its trading service in the near future. It also means, that there's no partnership with Ripple at this time. After this announcement, Ripple's XRP token fell more than 25%, from ~$3.5 to as little as ~$2.5.

So, is Ripple (who afterwards f*** XRP hodlers preaty good) simply not coming to Coinbase, or is Coinbase simply saying in near future?

First what you need to understand, that stories about multiplying investment by x10, or x100 times caused a whole new generation of crypto investors to enter the market before Holidays. And a lot of them wanted to buy XRP, because n00bs believed, that if they buy now, at the low price, XRP will have the same growth and returns similar to Ethereum, BitCoin Cash and Litecoin.

This wave of new investors flooded exchanges worldwide, as well as Coinbase. And keep in mind, that Coinbase currently is first choice for US citizens to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum (just like Bitpanda for Europe), where USD can be turned into crypto currencies and vice versa. So very soon Coinbase became flooded not only with investors looking to send their BTC, to another exchange (such as Binance) to trade for XRP, but also with new registrations.

So, in conclusion – Coinbase infrastructure was not built to anticipate the kind of demand that exploded onto the scene in Q4 2017. That's why Ripple is coming after systems upgrades, which will allow them to cope with the increased demand. Remember, that Ripple price now is around 1.5 USD. So a lot of investors would rush to unload their bitcoin wallets and buy all of the cheap XRP in one swift bull-rally. And this could collapse Coinbase servers and jam blockchain for days. There's already a lot of complaints, that Coinbase is jamming blockchain to much.

So be patient. Ripple is coming, but only when Coinbase and the rest of the market can handle it!
