Hello dear Steemians. My critically ill grandma passed away three days ago. Unfortunately she succumbed to her illness. Somehow I felt as if she might be able to survive it as her pulse rate kept fluctuating by going up as more family members came to visit her in the hospital and then it goes back down as the number of people decrease. Finally, she breathed her last with the presence of family. She would have been 85 this year on March 18th. My family and I have accepted her passing with a heavy heart because she was the oldest and the last 'grand' member we had. We prayed that she will find peace and ascend to heaven.

One of the rituals we need to do after the passing of a family member is to do prayers with offerings of food right after the funeral. Food must also be prepared for all the family members who attend the prayers. Since my family is quite large, we prepared a big feast for everyone. For our convenience, we decided to split up where a part of the family cook in the front yard while the rest cook in the kitchen. These are the ingredients we prepared to cook in the front yard.

Here is a closer look of the ingredients. It is a must to keep the feast vegetarian which is why you don't see any non-vegetarian food items.

I cut the vegetables and it was the first time I used a large knife.

Since I wasn't used to using a large knife, I accidentally cut my finger. But, it was not bad and it is better. I took this picture today and although it looks red, it is actually better than yesterday.

One of my cousins is the one who took charge of the cooking. It was done on a portable stove.

This is after adding some chilli powder and spices to the potatoes.

This is my awesome cousin who cooked all the dishes while the rest of us prepared the ingredients for him. He is a chef by profession which is one of the reasons why he is excellent in what he does.

These are some traditional sweet desserts called ponggadalu.

This is the feast. They are all vegetarian dishes. The drink in the middle is yogurt buttermilk. They were yummy.

We all had our meals after praying and making offerings for grandma. We will all miss her and pray that she will rest in peace.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family @yashny 😢 I would like to believe that she is at a better place now, just like my grandma who left us some years back.
