My original thought process was that it was air, or carbon dioxide. I settled on oxygen, which fits the question. I realized that I was completely overthinking it and this is one of the most well-known riddles. The answer you are looking for is a casket (or a coffin).
Yeah I find often there is more than 1 answer that solves a riddle. I'll send you prize over.
