No it is definitely not a crime. The problem arises from the traditional sense of thinking that most people have. We live in progressive times and nowadays women work and even get paid more than their spouses. The problem is that even in these progressive times, people still unconsciously have traditional expectations incorporated into their modern views of marriage. They are okay with both husband and wife working but look down on her making more than him. They believe that the man should make more than his wife so that he can solely provide for his family. Or at least provide majority of everything his family wants and needs. But in a situation where his wife makes more than him, a tension begins to develop in the family. You can't be the head of the family and let someone else do your duties. Eventually she's going to want the title along with the duties and that's something no man will ever willingly give up.

My brother spoke to me about how women have it hard in life. How they aren't allowed to work  sometimes and how they had goals they had to abandon when they got married. I told him its the same for men just the reverse. Not all men want to go out and struggle to make money. Some would rather stay at home and let their wives do the hustling. But as the bible puts it

"A man who does not provide for his family is an infidel"

For the proper running of a house, a man must work his butt off to provide for his family and still help his wife out at home whenever he can and the woman should should manage the home and work a bit if they want when they want.
