High on my list of things I hate is kids who come into the library after school to cough and sneeze snot all over everything.
And they almost invariably decline tissues when I offer them.

My daughter refuses tissues, too. What's up with that? I was always glad to get one when I needed it-- she acts as though they are the source of all illness and pain.
