"Why you haven't been getting the upvotes you wanted and how to get them"

Introduction

This is probably the most difficult problem for minnows and phrased into a question, it is one of the frequently asked questions.
‎Steemit is a growing innovative platform that could help one develop oneself solely to add value to the community. It gives steemians the reason to question themselves of their potentials and also use this discovered potentials to make a connection and develop others as well. But often times authors do not get responses or rewards to the contents they have created, contents they felt had value.
‎Feeling like minnows swallowed by whales in this enormous ocean of steemit, they begin to question their potentials, they begin to question their skills,blame the community and ultimately leave the community, not knowing the treasure they had, how to use it and that they are casting away by leaving the community.

Questions like; Why do i have zero views?, Why do i get a lot of views and no upvotes?, How do i increase my upvotes?,Why is my following not rapidly increasing?

.....All these will not a remain a question for long after reading this....

This menacing problem hampering the growth of steemit can be attacked from three different perspectives namely;

• The Author
• ‎The Content
• ‎The Community

The Author

‎This could be the very first source of the problem. Some authors want more than they give i.e content quality only for their expactions to be cut short. To get good rewards, there are some questions that needs to be asked they are;
• Who am i? Am i someone who posts about my passion? Am i someone who is just pushed around by the tides and waves of the "steemit ocean" -- whereby i just look for a trending topic and post about it regardless my shallow base knowledge?
• ‎Am i branding myself by posting in-depth and comprehensively about the things i love and have enough base knowledge?
• ‎Do i want to create a niche for myself, professionalise in the niche and consistently create quality contents on this self-created niche?
• ‎Am i patient with the community?
These questions should be critically and carefully analyzed, honestly answered.

‎From research, people yield to your products when they sense consistency and determination regardless of whether you are creating a niche for yourself or you are just being passionate.
‎Hence, Be consistent, determined, passionate and there's a reason why the growth curve is like this;

Give it time!.

The Content

When creating a post one should ask oneself these questions;
• Why should members of this community read my post?
• ‎What are my posts propositions?
• ‎Who are my target audience?

If there is any one rule for any presentation to an audience, it is...

"THOU SHALT NOT BE BORING!!"

Having your target audience in mind, make it interesting to read, capture the readers attention and make him sip coffee with their eyes still glued onto your post, tell a little relating story, joke a little and make it worthwhile. If you don't focus on a target audience to serve quality posts, you might as well not be serving anybody and before you know it you are FIRED!! by everyone. So before everyone lays you off, you need to say to some of the members-- YOU ARE FIRED!!

‎As a new writer, whenever there is a thought-flash in my head, i all of a sudden feel, BOOM!! -- I've got the killer post!!
unnamed.gif
Only to be disappointed when i start writing--Not disappointed really but suprised or rather shocked that the idea was just raw and it needs to be refined. The point is everyone gets great idea but it takes skill to organise and polish it. Most people do not even know that it needs to be polished-they dish out the meat,raw and unattractive.
There is no one style to polishing great ideas, but if your style doesn't make your ideas look like this;

Instead of like this;

Hence great ideas are not enough, get skills to refine your great ideas to make them even greater and when thou giveth it a title, don't lie, Arouse Curiosity!

The Community

If you're wondering why it's still not working for you after settling issues concerning yourself(The Author) and The Content, then it is definitely because people do not know you in the community.
‎Now you may ask; "How do people know me in the community?", Easy-peasy.....

.....Socialize and make Connections
clasped-hands-comfort-hands-people-45842.jpeg
Yess! It's that simple. Read through other members' posts and give worthwhile comments that actually shows you read it, Talk to people on channels and forums in steemitchat,discord and if you think you have talked to everyone and become friends with all of 'em, invite more people to the community!
Don't just read this; do them and then tweak them to your own taste.

I'll end with a quote from Aristotle;
‎ > "The things we learnt to do, we learnt by doing"

It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews/crimsonclad, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows and creating a social network. Please find us in the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.

If you would like to delegate to the Minnow Support Project you can do so by clicking on the following links: 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP, 5000SP. Be sure to leave at least 50SP undelegated on your account.

This is some excellent information for new users, and one of my favorite things to tell people about their content lately has been:

If I can go to Google and find this information for free, why would I pay you for it with one of my limited number of upvotes.

This boils down to a really simple statement about what you should try and do with your posts:

Provide your followers and potential new readers with something they can ONLY get from you.

Doing that, plus finding a real following with networking and quality comments on others' posts, will provide the real return on your investment of time here at Steemit.

Thanks...i get what you mean

Well said, this is very good advise for minnows!
