ABQ Reviews: Weck's

in #reviews6 years ago

In Albuquerque, Weck's is synonymous with breakfast. Their tagline is "A full belly tradition since '91," and it underlies a definite truth about this chain of local restaurants. Their plates are huge and you are sure to leave with a full belly!

And because their food is so delicious, you'll want to make it a breakfast tradition. Twenty eight years ago, there was only one Weck's, and because they have consistently delivered great food over those years, they have now grown to 14 locations spread throughout New Mexico.

They are famous for their Papas Plate; one bite and you won't wonder why. Papas feature a heaping stack of perfectly cooked hashbrowns, topped with cheese, eggs, green or red chile (naturally), and your choice of ingredients like sauteed mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, etc. They are the almighty hangover cure around here, but if you aren't in the mood, or capable, of eating a large plate of papas, they thankfully serve them in a smaller bowl size, still shareable between two adults.

They are also known for their perfectly fluffy, light waffles and pancakes. Typically topped with whipped cream and strawberries.

Although the menu isn't all that creative for breakfast food, everything that comes of the Weck's kitchen is delicious. The interior of each location is cozy, clean, and styled with retro paraphenilla that will keep you entertained while you await your steaming bowl of Papas or a sticky cinnamon roll.

Damn those waffles, Moothwatering! whenever I 'll find myself in mexico, I'll surely go to Weck's. The ambiance looks amazing too.

The food looks delicious and I like the decor. Looks and sounds like a cool restaurant. I can see why it's so successful and why it expanded.

A bowl of hashbrown with toppings ... great twist on a poutine, looks absolutely delicious !

Looks pretty incredible. I havent had waffels in years. They always remind me of my childhood. My mom and I used to get them for breakfast at a certain restaurant every Sunday. I think it's time I had them for old times sake.

Dear @pinkspectre

How good are those dishes and I think that food was very delicious.
It reminded me of a saying in Venezuela that we use a lot after eating:

When the belly is full, the heart is happy.

That evokes how happy you feel after eating something we like.

I send you a big hug from Venezuela.

wow! this is a really nice breakfast
