in #review7 years ago (edited)

This is my first steemit post. I hope you enjoy reading my book review about Nicholas Coleridge CBE who was born in 1957 in London, the son of David Coleridge – chairman of Lloyds Bank in the late 1980s. Sir Coleridge was educated in Eton College, where he studied Theology and history of Art. Nicholas Coleridge is a President of Conde Nast , the publishing house of :Vogue, Vanity Fair, Tatler and many more internationally known titles , but also a chairman of Victoria and Albert museum in London.

He wrote 12 books, both fiction and non-fiction based on his professional life and social novels. The book: ‘’Street Smart’’  This is the very first book I have read of this author, which made me want to read all twelve.

Each book is very different, interesting, funny, exciting, sad and well written; however, this is my favorite one!

It is written as fiction but I think many situations, places and people are very relevant to our life. We are surrounded by the glossy magazines wherever we go, this book shows us the inside of the world behind the cover but also teaches us very important lessons of trust, love, family and power of money.  In my opinion, each reader can find at least one person or situation in the book which they can relate with in real life, whhich makes it easy reading.

I promise you will want to read chapter after chapter just to find out the ending.

The main events in the book are set between London and New York.

The Main Character: Saskia Thompson is a very successful, hot and globally known fashion editor , who worked very hard for her position but also who is no stranger to parties and celebrity lifestyle. Saskia has everything, the power, money, connections and houses in both London and New York. She has everything and she is young, still hungry for more. Sadly, she is found dead and that is where the real story begins.  The main character of the book becomes Saskia’s brother who lives totally opposite lifestyle, being a war-reporter, he often travels to the most dangerous countries far from the glamorous lifestyle of his sister.

Two worlds collide after Saskia’s death, as Max is the one left in charge of the magazine.  Soon after he discovers that world of the glitz is not as shinny as it seemed to be from the outside.

This book is a perfect travel book, it combines elements of thriller, mystery, tension, sadness but also love.
