Steemit Review

in #review8 years ago

When I came here it was because a mate, @senseiteekay, had told me that a lot of people were earning money from blogging on this site. Dollar signs lit up in my eyes because I constantly write a lot of stuff, especially poems & song lyrics on my phone. My main interest is the guitar and songwriting - I'd like to make a living doing that, but it can be quite hard & expensive keeping a band together and travelling everywhere for promotion and sales, so I prefer to do these things myself now and post it online. Steemit's helped me a lot in this area. I didn't actually know I could earn so much for poems or any thing I've written until Steemit came along. Very cool.

I never really write detailed thoughts out on Facebook because there's no anonymity there, too many trolls, and deep discussion about life in general doesn't really hook the crowd because they fear the judgemental nature of those who are close to them, as I do. It adds up to a lot of people who post on there simply to 'boast' about their lives I think. I don't mean to come across as a pessimist or an asshole, but I can be. I think I've just grown tired of the photos haha - what someone cooked up for breakfast, what some beautiful lady is wearing on a date with some gym monkey who use to bash nerds, what's going on in their lives. Constantly being reminded of what our acquaintances are up to is a modern distraction that's not really worth the time. Atleast on Steemit, I can see that people are making an effort to dig a bit deeper to find or make something valuable for others.

I joined three months ago and have been really impressed. Although the value has gone down for steem, value is really what you make it, and I value the posts & honest discussions here, plus the people taking part on the platform. It's a widely mixed community of artists, engineers, programmers, writers, photographers and creators from all over the world entering the age of cryptocurrency. Exciting times! I'm glad to be here.

Excellent post and well said.

The dropping price if steem has also, in my opinion, lead to an increase in quality posts, because it has forced us to try harder to make something here.

Keep it up!

I only checked out #Steemit because a connection on #LinkedIn told me about it...so I was like why not it doesn't hurt to try. I'm just getting back into this site again. I've been MIA for a bit.

Fair enough, welcome back then haha. Best of luck this time round :)

Yes it's a very exciting on steemit. I was never a Facebook person, I would only say happy birthday to family and friends but wouldn't post any thing else. Steemit's platform is a real game changer.

The more I use these different social revenue sites the more I don't use Facebook. Facebook is getting so boring @bola! I agree with you. I can't wait til I see where #Steemit will go in the long run. Have you been into blogging long?

Thanks for the shout-out brother!
