DC's Titans Season 1 Review

[Watch Out! Massive Spoilers Ahead!]

What the heck?!!!

I honestly can't believe I made it to the end of this show, still hoping that something would redeem it. Talk about crap! No, really, what was this? Almost everything was wrong. And the storytelling technique was freaking annoying... and that's me playing it down.

Every episode began with a flashback scene. Some worked, but most didn't. But worse, every other episode veered away from the main characters' arc to tell the backstory of someone else. Sometimes, the story didn't even really contribute anything to what was going on at present! And they would draw us away from the flow of the main story for that? Perhaps I shouldn't talk about the 'previously' sequences, but they were so bad I just have to. None of them generated any form of excitement towards the episode itself. They weren't even worth watching. It was almost as though scenes were just cut and joined regardless of soundtrack or tone.

It seems what the showrunners focused on most were including Easter Eggs and references to the comics, saving Batman--the big one--for a finale that didn't make any sense either. This time, instead of showing us a backstory, they took us to the future. They left us waiting to see what Trigon would do, what would happen to Dick, what would become of Wonder Girl and Cory outside the force field and whether Hawk and Dove would find Jason Todd, and took us to the future with no explanation until the end.

I mean, yeah, viewers would figure out it wasn't really happening and guess Trigon was doing it to 'break Rachel's heart', but it just did not follow the story! Worse still, the season ended there. There! At the very peak of my annoyance!
Reveals that should have been exciting weren't (like Cory's recovery of her memories, after being built up for a whole season!), characters weren't compelling, the dark tone seemed unfitting most times.

I honestly can't believe Greg Berlanti, the creator of the arrowverse, was involved in this. Like, what were they thinking?
