Pokemon Quest - Game Freak´s new app for Android and iOS
Pokemon Quest review
Pokemon Quest is free-to-play that was released in may 2018 for Nintendo Switch and the next month for mobile devices. It takes place in an island called Tumblecube, presenting a blocky style such as games as Minecraft.
Gameplay
The gameplay is based in 3 main aspects:
- The Basecamp
The basecamp has a cauldron where you can make dishes to attract new Pokemons to be your allies and positions to set decorations, which gave little benefits during the game.
Every recipe it´s made by differents ways of mixing the colors of your ingredients, sizes and hardness, so you can make the food that a specific type or even, a specific pokemon, likes.
- The expeditions
Expeditions are the levels that you have to clear in order to progress in the game with your team, which can have a maximum of 3 members selected by you.
Every level has it´s own boost for different types of Pokemon that you use in them. They are usually type-themed.
Once you enter a level, you don´t have control of your team movement, but you can use their skills to deal more damage or to scape a bad situation (or set auto-mode for that too).
You obtain some ingredients for dishes in these quests.
- Pokemon upgrades
In this saga, you may obtain power stones to improve your Pokemons stats and movements. Those power stones are set in slots of their type (damage or health). This permits a huge variety of Pokemon, because you could have 3 Pikachus with differents stats and skills, for example.
This games seems one that Pokemon fans would love. I´ve been playing about 3-4 days and I like it a lot! It´s a casual game that you can play in the public transport while you wait for your destiny, so you can take your time to complete levels and enjoy the whole gameplay at your pase.
Moreover, the team maker and power stones collection is a nice idea to make differents build on your Pokemons.
I also love the UI. Really friendly in general.
So, this is all for now. Hope to see you around here!
