Review Film Paddington 2

in #review6 years ago

Paddington is a sweet and warm family film that not only succeeds in conveying to us the noble message of the importance of being kind and sincere, but also makes it look plausible when a family adopts a bear that takes on a human-like role without making a scowling neighbor wonder. It's a bear, can talk and act like a human too. The movie does what Stuart Little can not accomplish, and he does it brilliantly. Paddington 2 is now no less sweet and warm than the first, but with the excitement multiplied.

Paddington 2 offers the best entertainment for the whole family. Well, I never read the source material of Michael Bond's best-selling children's book series that was first released 6 decades ago. But the film has a sensation typical of classic children's stories despite its modern setting. The movie contains word games, childish comedies, and visual jokes. But nothing is crisp. Why are the British people always good at the word play comedy and make the product look elegant?

I think one of the causes might be because of the accent of yaa. Something sounds more classy and funny when spoken in British accent. Especially from our main character, Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw). The plain blue-jacketed bear and the red cap are now living comfortably in a residential complex in London with Brown's family: mom and dad (Sally Hawkins and Hugh Bonneville) and their two children (Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin), and their house keeper ( Julie Walters). Paddington is well-liked by his neighbors for his diligent aids, except for Mr. Curry (Peter Capaldi) who always suspects the idol bear's behavior.

Since Aunt Lucy (who is a bear, if you remember) will be her 100th birthday, Paddington plans to give her a present. Incidentally at Mr. Gruber's shop (Jim Broadbent), Paddington spotted an Array Book containing miniature iconic places in London. Aunt Lucy really wants to go to London, but since she can not, what if Paddington alone "sends" London to her?

Apparently the price of the book is quite expensive, so Paddington must work part-time. Working as a barber ended up in a mess, where Paddington had to pay for the risks later. The fit is in the water. I mean, the soft feathers of Paddington can certainly be used for something, right? Let no less funny, please find your own. By the way, there are thieves who are also eyeing the Arise Book. Paddington tried to catch him, but instead he was caught by the police. Paddington went to jail and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

It's true that viewers, this film really sends this funny bear in jail. But do not worry fathers mothers, this film uses a plot that sounds dark as entertainment. Paddington was not his name if he could not melt the hearts of other prisoners, including the chef called Om Knuckles (Brendan Gleeson), with his sincerity and his homemade jam sandwich. In my first movie not so ngeh that director / writer Paul King refers to the aesthetics of Wes Anderson films. But here, I am conscious of being conspicuous. Starting from Paddington unintentionally changing the color of the prisoner's clothes to pink during the washing task, King made the jail an eccentric place that contained interesting setpieces.

If you forget, there are no real bears involved here because Paddington is made of CGI. But the quality is very convincing to the point where your child / sister you will believe just that there is a bear who can talk. The peak scene involves chasing with the steam train. But the peak of visual achievement in my opinion is the beginning, when the Book Arises to be "alive". Paddington pictured himself and the miniature Aunt Lucy in the book, taking a walk to various locations made of miniature papers. The camera moves dynamically as though uninterrupted while the book sheet is reversed. There is also a scene re-scene scene at the scene using black-and-white illustrations.

I do not think it's a spoiler to tell that the villain turned out to be a neighbor of Paddington himself, a famous actor named Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant) who is now a dog food mascot where he has to wear dog costumes and eat dog food! The Book contains instructions on the location of the treasures he plans to use to restart his career. Very narcissistic and cunning, Buchanan toured London in strange costumes, ranging from vagrants, medieval knights, to nuns. Grant plays this role with perfect plenaryness and occasionally looks like self-parody.

Targets Paddington 2 is a kid, but this is a special children's movie that will no less cheer him up if watched by an adult. King's greatest success is to make this seemingly absurd material into a sweet and meaningful spectacle. King and all who are involved in this film devote seriousness in working on movies that in fact entertainment for children. Because children also deserve a quality spectacle.
