PLAY VALUE: a show about Video Game History
A few years back, I discovered a show online called Play Value. It was done in the style of VH-1's I Love The 80s, but it discussed the history of video games. You learned about who was behind some of those arcade classics of yesteryear, why certain video game companies went out of business, console peripherals, evolution of the joystick and much much more. Sadly, by the time I discovered it, they were no longer making episodes.
In 2013 I wrote about this show on The Retroist. A short while after, one of the hosts, TJ Allard, got in touch and said he would be interested in doing something like that again. For some reason, maybe because I was fanatical about the show and genre, he wanted me apart of it. Fast forward to today and we're collaborating on a YouTube channel called Video Game Stars. TJ, myself and Doug Olney of Tallboy Films are working on "gametoids" (1 minute video factoids about video games) and eventually we'll be sitting down with video game developers who TJ always says "are the REAL video game stars." Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and let us know which video game stars we should feature in our videos.
Very interesting, I would like to check it out sometime. since I like videogame history I might as well
