I was to be the subject of Tales of the Hardcore in issue #3. Sucks it never happened. Maybe for the better. Lol
I was in discussion with the owners of this mag. It didn't die because they were greedy or anything. Advertiser revenue just bottomed out as the net was taking it's toll on mags at the time.
I don't doubt it. My only complaint was that subscribers were the ones that got screwed. They shouldn't take the money and not deliver a product. I was subscribed to another magazine at some point (EGM maybe) and when they went under they at least moved the remainder of the subscription over to another magazine (PSM if I recall correctly).
I agree, they could have worked with the subscribers they had (I don't think it was an all that high number).
From what I remember, they just had too big of goals and not all that much experience in delivering the promises. Retail sales were in the toilet and the way mags are handled, if you don't sell through you lose the issues on stands ans have to give a credit on the next issue for unsold issues the month before. A lose/lose for publishers.
