Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition was released a year and a half after Sega released the original Daytona USA on the Saturn and in many ways it was really the game the original should have been. Championship Circuit Edition fixed or improved a number of things from the original. It had reduced popup, increased framerate, some new cars and courses and a 2-player mode.
Daytonal USA: Championship Circuit Edition was released in November 1996. A later special Netlink edition was released that was only availble through Sega's online store. It is now thought to be the rarest North American release for the Saturn.
A slightly enhanced version was also released in Japan a few months later. It added more music and a link mode that allowed two Saturn's to be connected similar to the arcade version and a couple of other minor enhancements.
A PC (Windows) version was also released a year after the original Saturn release. It was based on the slightly enhanced Japanese version and also allowed eight player network play. It was called Daytona USA: Deluxe.
