TADS is a great place to get modern interactive fiction. I would also strongly recommend Adam Cadre's stuff.
I remember playing "Adventure" and "Zork" back in the day.

I think Zork, Zork II and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy were the only ones I spent any significant time on. I think I eventually finished Zork (though not with a perfect score) and HGTTG...
I never did try HGTTG, although I eventually did read (and very much enjoy!) the books... ;)
