Everyone knows who Mario is, he is the most iconic games character off all time, but most people forget they know he has a brother, Luigi.

Originally, Luigi was known as the green Mario that could only be played by Player 2 in the early Mario brothers Multiplayer games. With all the adventures the brothers go on, every now and then, Mario needs some help, so here are 5 things that Luigi can do that Mario can't.

5 - Damaging taunts.

Super Smash Brothers is the Mario equivalent to Mortal Kombat. You take control of various characters found in the Mushroom kingdom and fight till only one remains standing. In the game though, Luigi is one of the few characters that has a taunt that can deal damage to their opponents.
It is innocent enough kick the ground as if you are waiting to be hit, but the ultimate insult to gamers is getting a knock out blow from this taunt, sometimes sending players over the edge and rage quitting.

4 – Ghostbuster.

The general rule of thumb for ghosts or Boo's in the Mario universe is they suck. No, I mean really suck, especially when they chase you when you have your back turned and the big one. Is just an arsehole. However, when Luigi met Professor E, Gadd in Luigi's Mansion, he was given the poltergust 5000. This well known accessory that only Luigi can use helps him suck up those annoying ghosts in a twisted vacuum, ghostbuster esk way, helping him defeat them at every turn.

3 – Super Jump.

The controls of the original game were very simple, left, right and jump. You couldn't really get it wrong. So its safe to say that the brothers are well known for there jumping ability. Since Super Mario 3, Luigi has always had the ability to jump higher and further than Mario, which has made him a preferred character to play in games since. In more recent games, apart from the hight Luigi gets over his brother, he could also run slightly faster too, but Luigi could not stop as quick as Mario, instead he would slide past where you wanted to stop, in some instances, taking one of your hard earned lives.

2 – Night Fever.

Luigi has always been seen as the 2nd player, the sidekick, the Green Mario. In 2013, Nintendo tried to increase his profile and public popularity. After the year of Luigi that ran from march 2013 for one whole year, one of the ways they did this was in Super Smash Bros. By giving the man in green an awesome fight move in which Luigi could show off his sleek dancing moves to create the Negative Zone. This created a bubble in which opposing players would slow down, decrease there hit power and confuse them, enabling Luigi to get one up while looking cool doing it.

1 – A Lover.

The Mario games are well known for Princess Peach getting kidnapped by Bowser and Mario chasing after her. The 2 are also known to have a love hate relationship usually with Peach ending up kidnapped. Daisy was introduced in Super Mario Land and Luigi and Daisy hit it off straight away and she has been a much loved character since. While Mario is always chasing after Peach, Luigi and Daisy hit it off from the get go and have never been apart in any storyline. This can be seen in Super Mario Kart Wii on Daisy's circuit, where there is a statue of the pair dancing together. Possibly meaning that Luigi is much better lover and can keep Daisy out of harms way. Unlike his brother.

So I guess the moral of this would be... never trust a sidekick? Well those who follow may be much better than you think, Yes he may have been known as the green Mario, but now everyone knows him as Luigi and he has just as many skills to match that of his brothers.
