Retro Games Top 5 - Part 21 - Metal Gear Solid Fan Theories that change EVERYTHING!

I absolutely love the Metal Gear Solid series, from the Comics to the games. I am a huge fan.
The first game i played was Kojimas first 3d game on the Sony Play Station back in the mid 90's and since then i was hooked. Now i can play all the games on my pc, the majority of which i use emulators for.
Since 1987 Metal Gear has seen over 20 titles and spin off's of the franchise, comics, graphic novels and even a planned film for a 2019 release. (Read More Here), even loyal fans of the series have made cartoons and fan films which you can find on YouTube.
With an extensive library of content, there are a few theories knocking about the webernets and after some digging, i found a few that would change how we view the franchise as a whole.

1 – Its all a Simulation;- At the beginning of Metal Gear Solid three, Major Zero says ''you are about to embark on a virtual mission'' to which Naked Snake replies ''a virtual mission?''. This has led a few Fans to believe that the entire MGS3 game is all a combat simulation. This belief is further enforced by the ending of MGS2 when it was reveled that the whole game you just completed was a VR simulation.

2 – Stoner Snake;- Drug abuse is something that you might not want to advertise. Kojima on the other hand may have been doing it all along.
In every MGS game, there is always a hint to Snake being a smoker. In the early games when you equipped the smokes, snakes life would go down, but they did have their uses, blow smoke to see laser alarms and to steady his nerves while aiming. But in the more recent games, when snake smokes, time seems to move much more quickly around him. This led to the belief that Snake does in fact, smoke cannabis. With the description of the ''phantom cigar'' in MGSV using ''Medicinal herbs'' just adds to that belief. And I tend to agree with it.

3 – Who is your Daddy and what does he do?;- This theory came straight of the official Metal gear Wiki. Its basically a time paradox that seems to be true, proving that Naked snake is a time traveller.
If Naked Snake is killed, the game displays ''Snake is Dead'', if you wait or exit, it should read ''Time Paradox'', this is because at the end of the game, we find out that Naked is big boss and the genetic farther of Liquid, Solid and Solidus Snake. And if he did die, all the events following MGS3 would never happen.

4 – Fire for Revenge;- This one kinda makes sense. At the end of MGSV, we find out that Big Boss is actually an imposter and the real boss has been using him as a diversion (possibly to return in another sequel?). Throughout the bulk of the game, you have to fight/run away from the Man on fire. This turned out to be Volgin who was kept alive by the burning desire to get revenge on Big Boss. When they finally meet, Volgin realizes that the Big Boss he is facing is in fact an imposter and knows he would never be able to find the real one, so gives up and dies. It hasn't been confirmed, but it does sound like something Kojima would do.

5 – Shhhh don't let the wolf bark;- I really like this one. In case you missed it in the games, most of the snipers you see are female and pretty hard to beat. In MGSV we get our first look at quiet. If you played the storyline where you dont kill her during your first encounter and take into account the game takes place almost 20 years before MGS1, you will notice that throughout the game, there seems to be a thing between boss and quiet during a certain rain scene. So it is entirely possible that Sniper Wolf would be the daughter of a Quiet Sniper. Damn it, my mind has gone to geek sex overload. Erm... I'll be back.
