Just like some of you, my GameBoy sits proudly on my shelf. It no longer works, but that's besides the point. So I look at the little hand held shit and I know there was the cartridge camera, but what else could you buy for it? Over the Gameboys 12 year life span, many, and I mean many accessories were made for it, from the useful to the utter rubbish. So here is a list of my top 5 accessories you could buy.

5 – Transfer Pak;- I used to play Pokemon Yellow for the Gameboy, a lot. I think I captured more Pokemon than I can count or remember. But it wasn't until the mid 2000's that I found out you can transfer some of these little bastard things into the N64's Pokemon Stadium game. And apparently you can do the same thing with only a small handful of other titles too. This little adapter plugs into your N63 controller so all them Pokemon you collected back in the mid 90's can now battle to the death on the 64.

4 – Mobile Phone Adapter;- OK, this one isn't as much an accessory for your Gameboy as it is a Gameboy accessory for your phone. Yes, you can now plug in your smart phone into the cool adapter and play all your favourite games all over again. In either colour or original monochrome, but thanks to the smart phone, playing in the dark is now possible thanks to leaps in technology. I so want one of these now. They look awesome.

3 – GameBoy Battery Pack;- In a previous retro top 5, I may of mentioned that I was always running out of batteries and dick head parents that would never buy more. Well I should of asked for one of these. It is a fully rechargeable battery pack, just like most small hand held tech today, you plug it in, wait for it to charge and then go nuts gaming. Its the smallest things in life that make me the happiest.

2 – Light Boy;- As many of you may know , and who have owned a Gameboy, you will know that you can not play it in the dark, that's because of the monochrome display and no backlight. Thankfully though, there are several versions of the Light boy made by other companies that get around this problem. Simple click it on, turn the light on and as a bonus, it will magnify the screen to, making it easier to see in the dark, the down fall is that it takes another 2 or 4 batteries to power it depending on which one you got.

Nintendo-Super-Game-Boy.jpg
1 – Super Gameboy;- When Gameboy first came out, most of the games were dulled down NES games, but with the advent of the super Nintendo, this cartridge adapter was all but inevitable. Sick of buying batteries for your Gameboy? Just play it on a TV through your SNES, and as a bonus, instead of playing in the typical monochrome, you can now customize the in game colours and boarders too. Not very mobile though if you do this.

There are more accessories for the Gameboy, but that will have to wait for a future Games top 5 list.
Is there any accessories you had for your Gameboy that isn't in this list?

Thanks for reading.
