Dreamcast; it's STILL thinking!

in #retro7 years ago (edited)

Time to bring back some Retro greatness! Stay tuned to see what we do with these, and to see the progress as it happens. (It won't be boring!)

Left is a va0 Launch System from Japan made in 1999, Right is a va1 from the USA also made in 1999. Pretty huge differences in them! We also have a va1 from Canada made in 2001, it'll be seeing some love too.

If this kind of content is something there's interest in, we'll keep going with other consoles! Any recommendations?15008954996171735144169.jpg

looking forward to whatever you're planning. I love the dreamcast, what a gem.

Thanks! Tons of things planned! New 2017 updated power supplies, newly developed plug and play BIOS replacement, ATX Hard Drive mods.. If I have to do minor repairs (upper/lower lens cleaning, drive gear cleaning, etc) I'll share that here too.

The yellow one is being put inside a wooden cabinet, I've yet to decide whether to do a stand-up or a sit-down style though. (Nor have I found a 24 - 32" CRT Monitor yet!)

In short; you won't be dissapointed!

Remember playing "crazy taxi" on this. So much fun.
Bad timing for the release and the death of Sega console's tho :\

Hahaha I was just playing that yesterday! One of the absolute best! (I prefer 2.)

Yeah, it's really sad that Sega released two amazing gaming consoles so close to each other. Doomed the Dreamcast from Day 1!

They started losing trust after the Sega CD and 32X addons irritated their fans. The next generation's Saturn was destroyed by the Playstation and by the time Sega was able to regroup and put out an amazing console, their fans had moved on.

Exactly! They were sadly almost destined to room before the Dreamcast was even launched. In fact, they were so low on cash, allegedly their president personally threw ~40 mill. at the project!

Ahhhhhh, memories.

I always hope someone can give the old consoles an overhaul so it can actualy run newer games as wel ( with some controle overhaul or someting)

Totally agree! That's part of why the Dreamcast has such a huge place in my life; there are people still actively developing hardware and software for it to this day!

Too many systems get thrown out instead of being repurposed!
