Where would you go if you enter the skate board store in the image above?

In my retail workshops many people have answered they would go to the giant shoes exhibition at the end of the store. Other people have said they would go to the skateboard´s exhibitions at the left in the second floor railing. In retail these are named focal points and it is part of the design of the exhibition of the store.

Focal points are like magnets that catch the attention of store visitors and motivate them to enter and walk the store. When a consumer peeks into a store he or she decides in less than 3 seconds if continues entering or leaves the place. A store must have several focal points to pull visitors to travel the whole store.

Please see in the image that there are no obstacles in the path to each focal point, so you can foster the consumer will reach every one walking.

When it is difficult to create focal points you can use images as in the example below.
