Job Sites Where You Can Create an Online Resume (Profile)

in #resume5 years ago (edited)

There are a lot of job websites that will take your resume, but not all of them offer you the ability to make a profile and customize your resume for web viewing, plus add on more info about you. All of them take your resume but none is perfect at parsing your resume, so you'll have to do some editing. If you'd like to show more to employers, however, this may be a great option. I list my opinion of their profile system, features and sections.

I update this as I find more. Last updated 6/5/19.

  1. LinkedIn: extremely robust; expanding sections to see more is clumsy; offers parallel profiles for other languages; can share; download as PDF; can personalize profile URL; a business networking feature, career advice mentoring, salary insights privately shows you how your salary compares to others in the same field, select access to all or some of it and many other options via settings area.

    Sections:

    • personal info: name, photo, job sought, current job, last education, contact info, connections, basic location, "about", unlimited links to your sites
    • career interests: open to recruiters, note to recruiters; job search status, job titles sought, location, distance to travel, remote work, job types (full, part, contract, temp, intern, volunteer), industries, company size
    • dashboard (private)

    • work experience (enter formatted list from your resume)

  2. Nexxt: possibly the best for making your online profile complete; can personalize profile URL; 3 views (infographic, text, resume); download as PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, and RTF; view as public/employer; share to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, Forward; select visibility for people; 3 overall and 4 sectional color themes; sections can be reorganized by drag & drop; can customize emailed notifications
