Developing Leadership
Developing Leadership in Children
Have you ever been frustrated because your son didn't react to a specific situation like you would have liked him to? Calm down! Many of us make this mistake because we think that children should know everything by logic or common sense, but children really only know what we teach them.
For this reason, today I share some suggestions that can help us to teach our children leadership qualities, which will help them in their lives.
daily life, throughout its growth:
- Decision-making: Give them the opportunity to weigh the pros and cons of each situation. We are MAL accustomed to thinking and deciding for them, thus limiting their analytical and decision-making capacity; important qualities of a leader.
2.Assertiveness: We must teach our children to express their opinions and preferences with certainty, firmness and respect, even if these are different from those held by others. They will not always be able to get what they want, but at least they will have expressed their point of view.
3.Positive Attitude: They must believe and trust that no matter how difficult an obstacle may seem, they can achieve what they set out to do.
4.Be Committed: If they acquire some commitment, however small it may be, we must teach them that they must comply; Whether helping a friend, attending an activity, completing a course, delivering their assignments on time, sports practices, etc. - The same applies for promises.
5.Learn from their mistakes: It is good to teach them to recognize their mistakes and learn from them; as well as analyzing how to improve them and make them responsible for their progress.
Let's not get carried away by the thought that "alas, they're very young"; "Is that they still do not understand"; "They do not have maturity"; etc, because believe it or not, children now have an incredible capacity for analysis and understanding that only we parents can help them develop.
Giving them the opportunity to think and decide (with the proper guidance and leading by example) will help them to be independent, proactive and to shape their character. - These are also qualities of a leader.
